-my Christmas dinner-
What is Christmas? These past years have been filled with thoughts pertaining this subject. Some say it is a time to be with family, others say that it is the government ploy to make people spend more money, and then there are those who have nothing to say. These past few days I have had my own thoughts about Christmas.
And for that matter, the meaning of the word family. You see most people say that Christmas is about spending time with your family. Well, I am thousands of miles away from mine. Being away from my family has forced me to reevaluate my thought on Christmas.
Last week a family invited me over to enjoy a Costa Rican Christmas. When I asked them about a good time for me to arrive, they told me, "anytime". You see, if I was just a friend they would have given me a time. By saying anytime they were saying that I was a part of their family. The mother who I have come to see like my aunt. kept telling me that I was famalia -family in Spanish-.We don't look a like, we don't live the same way, and we don't even speak the same language but; despite our differences we are family. When the festivities got late they even invited me to spend the night in there house. As I was laying down in a bed with borrowed pajamas I could not help but feel special. Thousand of miles away I had found my family.
"I tell you the truth," Jesus replied, "no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age (homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields—and with them, persecutions) and in the age to come, eternal life.
Along the way, I also found the meaning of Christmas.
Its all about Jesus.
Its always been...
Merry Christmas to everyone
and
God bless you abundantly
Jenny
